“My Style Is Minimal. I Like A Clean White Shell That I Can Bring To Life With Art And Furniture. “

When Sam Farhang first saw this Meadows property in 2016, it was a typical Dubai villa. In this interior design project, he refined the layout, removed a few walls for a more open-plan living concept, and replaced the original windows with floor-to-ceiling glass panels.

To Sam Farhang’s credit, even though the developer did not approve some of the changes he wanted to implement, the interior designer has crafted an oasis of calm with a strong connection to nature.

In this contemporary Dubai home, an array of design icons are part of the home d ecor.

“I collect a range of art, all representing my mood and thoughts during a particular time in my life,”- says Sam Farhang’s – “Each and every piece I have in the house – from works by Cassina, one of my favorite brands, to the plexiglass tables I designed years ago – has a back story. You can say I live with memories.”

Sam Farhang insists that this is a house with a practical interior design, for living in and not just appreciating. The interior designer’s vision is evident in the relaxed manner with which he has integrated design objects from different eras and styles.

The ’Quin House – Ken Fulk Designs A Social Club With Contemporary Flair

Ken Fulk’s highly sophisticated interiors—often swathed in colorful hand-painted wallpaper and decorated with a mix of centuries-old antiques and custom contemporary pieces—are almost instantly recognizable to anyone with an appreciation for design.

His most recent endeavor that serves as a shining example of his design philosophy? The ’Quin House, a members-only social club that opened this summer in Boston’s famous Back Bay neighborhood. Founders Sandy and Paul Edgerley brought on Ken Fulk as the creative director, handing him the reins for every formative element of the coveted spot on Commonwealth Avenue, from the logo to the paint colors, and of course, the magical, transcendent interiors.

And for this six-story Gilded Age masterpiece, which spans four restaurants, six lounges, three bars, eight guest quarters, a roof deck, a fitness, and wellness center, and a series of private event spaces, Ken Fulk’s driving force behind the design was more of a feeling than it was a specific aesthetic.

Though few interiors experts can master the delicate harmony between vintage, antique, and contemporary pieces as well and as effortlessly as Ken Fulk does, he had good historical details—an impressive art collection, ceilings with elaborate plaster crowns, and extravagant alabaster columns—that came with the late 19th-century building on his side.

Although the ’Quin House was a heavy lift when it came to implementing a more contemporary approach to the interiors, Ken Fulk made a concerted effort to conserve as much of the original details as possible. In the grand reading room, which features two fireplaces on either end and a massive Calvin Coolidge portrait, he preserved the ceiling’s elaborate crown moldings, putting his own twist on them, in typical Ken Fulk fashion. They were originally a heavy white plaster, but over the years, from the fires brewing beneath the mantles and the years of cigar smoking, they had taken on the deep brown color they are now.

Another one of what used to be the Algonquin Club’s preexisting features that heavily influenced Ken Fulk’s creative direction? The late 19th- and early 20th-century classic American paintings that he inherited with the building. Ken Fulk turned to curator Kate Chertavian to find incredible works and ultimately build a collection that would include everyone from Andy Warhol to Picasso, Rodin, and Kehinde Wiley.

And it’s quite clear upon walking through the stately entrance, where guests are greeted with Rodin’s Penseur, Petit Modèle. That said, the 250-plus-piece art collection is only a piece of the complex puzzle that connects the old with the new.

Moscow was chosen as the location for LUXXU’s next interior design apartment mainly due to its vibrant nature but also for the beacon of quality.

In order to meet the design standards of the city, LUXXU had the ambitious task of providing an exciting yet relaxing environment that stands the test of time and conveys contemporary luxury in its finest form. Join Daily Design News as we give you a room-by-room showcase of this brand-new deluxe apartment in the heart of Moscow.

A DELUXE HALLWAY LIKE NO OTHER

Upon entering this apartment, one is bestowed by a sublime hallway decoration, comprised of a trinity of high-quality designs that showcase exquisite craftsmanship, from the Suspicion console, a daring piece that fills any room with lavishing luxury to the Gold Darian mirror, a simple yet unique item that captures the functionality of a mirror and the splendor of a work of art. Both pieces receive smooth lighting from the Tycho small wall light.

AN EXQUISITE WINE & DINE EXPERIENCE

LUXXU introduced an open space that shares both a bar and dining area, in which the transition between spaces flows seamlessly and one can also enjoy marvelous views of the outdoors. In the dining room, the brass and crystal glass accents of the Liberty Snooker suspension pair flawlessly with the boundless elegance of the Charla dining chairs, whose timeless lines and modern structure are further complemented by the complexity of luxurious materials, such as velvet, brass, and lacquered wood. Moreover, the Vertigo dining table was the chosen centerpiece for this setting, a design that exhales luxury and style in its purest form.

Maintaining a cohesive decor throughout, the marbleized bar space highlights a bespoke bar installation headlined by the Otto Swivel bar chairs, which in turn offer all the comfort and sophistication needed to have an embellished interior. The Liberty lighting pendants offer a majestic glow, and they will certainly become the topic of conversation over a cocktail.

THE INNOVATIVE AND LUXURIOUS LIVING SPACES

Neutral tones are rather timeless and have been in vogue for quite some time now. They become the theme of this luxurious living room setting that combines a modern design language with a sophisticated color palette that evokes a charming aura throughout.

This modern ambiance has the perfect color scheme, combining the dark wood and off-white from the Thompson sofa, a new modular piece by Luxxu, with the soft crystals from the Liberty Slim suspension. For a grander fit, LUXXU added another set of new pieces like the custom-made Mayer center table and the Darian tv cabinet, impressing with the symphony that the whole apartment contemplates.

THE OFFICE OF EXCELLENCE

The perfect fusion of function and beautiful design is the culmination that every home office room should aim for. An exclusive desk that conveys an unmatched sense of style and aesthetics is the key to boosting productivity and the overall office decor.

In this case, the Apotheosis Desk is the anchor point of the room and makes quite a luxury statement. The Charla office chairs provide comfort while the Empire round suspension offers a crystalized glow. Furthermore, the Lloyd cabinet and the new Liberty Torch wall lamps add further interest to the decor.

Lastly, the Apotheosis bookcase was also incorporated to offer more storage space and for the client to exhibit all of their favorite items, from contemporary sculptures to essential books.

THE MODERN OUTDOOR RETREAT

Offering panoramic city views, this outdoor space of this apartment will certainly become the envy of many. It is well-appointed with neutral furnishings, including the Hampton two-seat sofa and armchairs, the Suspicion side table, and the Mayer center table, all of which become the ultimate expression of comfort and luxury.

On the other side, there is another resting spot where the Hampton sun loungers rest and allow for high-quality sunbathing sessions. These pieces were designed exquisitely with class and style, but with strong character and comfort, perfect to escape the city noise and revive the art of lounging.

PERFECTION AND SOPHISTICATION IN A MASTER BEDROOM

Beautifully connected to the outdoor area, this master bedroom suite presents stone walls that showcase all the grandeur of veined marble. Moreover, the sleeping was appointed with LUXXU’s classical bedroom essentials, including the Château bed with its massive headboard dressed in gray leather and brass details.

Designs such as the stylish Tenor ottoman, the timeless Charla dresser and armchairs in a soft olive green hue, and the Empire bedside table with a brass frame become the supporting pieces that all bedrooms need. In addition, the Draycott pendants transmit a sense of elegance and purity. The closet area can be accessed through glass sliding doors.

In addition, a smaller bathroom is set within the suite and features a cluster of unique furnishings, from the Darian washbasin to the Orbis rectangular mirror. The Darian towel rack and the Waterfall XL pendant also complement this interior.
