Our insight

Holy Land cruising

There are several 'must see' places which are visited as part of a Holy Land cruise. Key amongst these is Jerusalem, which you typically travel to from the port of Ashdod. Irrespective of specific beliefs, it is still wondrous to think that Jerusalem has been 'in the news' for over two thousand years, and that fact makes this a very special place indeed to visit.

Jordan's highlight is the red rose city of Petra. Accessed by a mile long gorge which acts as the main gate of the city, you are greeted by the site of the Al Khazneh. The city's tombs and altars are carved out of the rock, making this a truly extraordinary site.

Whether travelling on an itinerary solely focused on this region, or enjoying it as part of a longer Mediterranean voyage, these cruises tend to be early or late summer when the temperatures are not so fierce. At night, especially inland, temperatures can drop, and it is therefore important to pack warm clothes as well as those suitable for the hot weather experienced during the day.
